Located at the intersection of Highways 40 and 55 in Trois-Rivières, District 55 is on its way to becoming a true urban town of 11 million ft2. Once completed, the project will represent investments totalling $800 M.
Boutiques, department stores, hotels, restaurants and leisure and entertainment venues will all be included in the public section of the project. Spanning 800,000 ft2, the commercial zone will serve as the gateway to District 55. Holiday Inn Express & Suites has already announced it will open on the site, as has Mauricie Volkswagen. Ameublements Tanguay also inaugurated its new store in District 55 in October 2016.
District 55 has a residential vocation as well. In November 2016, Habitations Paris et Frères launched Phase 1 of the largest condo construction project in District 55, a 500 unit development that will continue over the next 8 to 10 years. In addition, in partnership with Groupe Robin and Groupe Laferté, the company will soon begin construction of 64 one, two and three-bedroom apartments in a total of eight buildings, available for occupancy by July 2017. For its part, Groupe Arvisais began construction on a townhouse development in 2016. These unique 2,430 ft2 residences, which include a garage, will feature oversized windows that let in plenty of natural light and deliver the sense of being immersed in nature. And finally, Habitations Paris et Frères will build ultra-modern semi-detached houses in District 55, each offering 1,560 ft2 and an open concept, with 9-foot ceilings and a garage.
Access to a range of leisure activities is a priority for District 55. Designed with its residents’ lifestyle in mind, the site will feature both a linear and central park. In addition, in May 2016 the City of Trois-Rivières announced the upcoming construction on the site of a 5,000 seat arena, which will constitute a major engine of development for District 55.
